Hershey Tin Buttercream Frosting
Many Baking Day at Grandma’s readers have asked me which kind of frosting is the best to go with the chocolate cake recipe in the book. My grandma most often served this cake with a vanilla buttercream—but chocolate buttercream can be yummy, too!
Here’s an easy recipe to follow from the side of a Hershey’s cocoa tin. You can make it with or without the cocoa.
6 tablespoons butter (softened)
1/3 cup hershey’s cocoa (See Note Below)
2 2/3 cups unsifted confectioners’ sugar
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Cream butter in small mixer bowl.
Add cocoa and confectioners sugar alternately with milk; beat to spreading consistency (additional tablespoon milk may be needed).
Blend in vanilla.
Makes 2 cups frosting.
***1/3 cup for light flavor.
***1/2 cup for medium flavor.
***3/4 cup for dark flavor.
